Visitor Information

ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION

AWISA 2008 is a trade-only exhibition. All visitors are asked to register. Visitors can register at the counters in the foyer prior to admission, but it is preferred that they pre-register.

This year pre-registrations will only be done through this website. Mail and fax pre-registration facilities are not available. Also visitor name badges will not be mailed. Visitors who have pre-registered should print off their bar-coded confirmation email and bring it to be scanned at the e-badge stations in the foyer. A name badge will be printed at the station for express entry to the event.

Visitor safety AWISA 2008 is a workplace with woodworking machinery on display and in operation.

In the interest of safety, children over 6 months of age and under 15 years of age will not be admitted to the exhibition. However, a professionally run children’s hospitality suite is provided, with activities and entertainment to suit the various age groups being looked after.

Also in the interest of safety, alcohol is not served by the venue or by exhibitors during exhibition hours.

Privacy The information visitors provide when registering will be used to enable access to the event. When visitors allow exhibitors to electronically read their access card they are giving exhibitors all the information provided at registration. After the exhibition, exhibitors are provided with information on all visitors, and the organisers use the information to promote the next exhibition. Visitors should contact the organisers in writing by 8 July 2008 if they do not want their information included in the list provided to all exhibitors. The information is not disclosed to any other parties.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Lido Accommodation

In the Darling Harbour area immediately adjacent to the Sydney Exhibition Centre there are over 4000 hotel rooms. Special rates have been negotiated at a number of these and other Sydney hotels. Visitors are recommended to book early as this will give them a greater choice of room and hotel.

Airport shuttle buses A fleet of three 48 seat coaches will provide a complimentary shuttle service between the two domestic terminals and AWISA 2008. The service will run every half hour from 8.00a.m. each show day. Last return bus leaves the venue one hour after the close of the show each day. On arrival in Sydney go to the baggage claim area and look for the bus company representative with the AWISA sign or go to the bus park. The buses will leave from the bus car park to the east of the T3 Qantas terminal. Virgin, Jetstar and other T2 passengers should exit the T2 terminal baggage claim area, walk along the pedestrian foot path through the ground floor of the car park building to the Qantas terminal, then head right to the bus car park, and look for the bus with the AWISA sign. International visitors can connect to the AWISA shuttle by taking the Airport Shuttle to the domestic terminals.

Luggage room Luggage can be left during the day at the AWISA luggage room. Items are stored at the owners’ risk.

BUS SERVICES

AWISA 2008 sees the introduction of free bus services to the exhibition from Eastern Creek in Western Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and the Central Coast.

The services will run on the following days: Wednesday 2 July Eastern Creek to AWISA and return
Thursday 3 July Eastern Creek to AWISA and return
Wollongong to AWISA and return
Friday 4 July Eastern Creek to AWISA and return
Central Coast to AWISA and return
Newcastle to AWISA and return

These services are free, but AWISA asks that intending passengers book their seat when pre-registering on line. Please book more than 4 days before the service. This is so that AWISA can organise sufficient buses. Visitors who have already registered and who wish to book a seat will need to enter their registration number and email address to re-enter the registration site.

'Creative kitchens and interiors'
Breakfast with Neil Perry

Well-known chef Neil Perry will address this breakfast, which is aimed at kitchen designers, furniture designers, interior designers and architects. Neil has managed several quality restaurants and today concentrates on his flagship brand, Rockpool, which includes restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne. Neil also heads a team of consultants to Qantas, he has presented programmes on The Lifestyle Channel, and currently has a number of restaurant projects under development. Neil's theme will be “Creative kitchens and interiors”. His talk will include his experiences with interior designers and fit-out contractors, and his views on domestic kitchen design.

As H.G. Nelson and Rampaging Roy Slaven, Greig Pickhaver and John Doyle have been searing themselves into Australia’s consciousness since 1986 with programmes such as This Sporting Life, Club Buggery, The Channel Nine Show, Planet Norwich, The Nation Dumps and the hugely successful Olympic broadcasts The Dream and The Ice Dream. With continuing radio work they are known for commentary work over a number of sporting codes. “Breakfast with Roy and HG” will be an entertaining start to AWISA’s busiest day.

The AWISA Celebrity Breakfasts will take place in the Parkside Ballroom at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Tickets cost $50.00 and can only be booked through the registration page. Visitors can either book tickets at the time of registering or later. If booking tickets after registering on line, go to the registration link and enter the Confirmation Number on the email received confirming registration.

On entering the exhibition all visitors have their name badges scanned. Each day 75 winners will be drawn from those entering between 9.00a.m. and 10.30a.m. The list of winners will be downloaded into computers stationed on the corner of each of the two catering areas at AWISA 2008. These computer stations will be open between 3.00p.m. and 4.30p.m. each day (2.00p.m. and 3.30p.m. on Saturday). Visitors can go to these stations to have their name badges re-scanned to see if they have won. A voucher will be given to winners to take to the show office in Hall 2 to uplift their prizes. If all winners do not re-scan their name badges to see if they have won, the uncollected prizes will added to the draw for the following day. If all Saturday’s prizes are not collected, the winners will be notified by mail and AWISA will arrange delivery.

Employees and family of AWISA exhibitors, AWISA members, their suppliers and distributors, and of companies supplying services to AWISA Inc are not eligible to enter.
